Hyderabad: An MBA graduate, who was allegedly cheated by a fraudster who promised him a job and in turn, started cheating other job aspirants, was arrested by the Balapur police here on Monday. He posed as DRDO chairman Satish Reddy and cheated people, police said.
The Balapur police seized Rs 5.5 lakh from A.Praveen (23), a resident of Laxminagar Colony in Saidabad and a native of Maheshwaram in Ranga Reddy district.
According to the police, while doing his MBA, Praveen came into contact with one Murthy who offered a job in the DRDO. Believing Murthy, Praveen paid Rs 20,000. However, neither he got a job nor the money was returned.
After this incident, Praveen plotted to make easy money by cheating other job aspirants and contacted his close friend Anil Reddy and induced him saying he would arrange him a job as a Supervisor in the DRDO’s Finance wing and collected Rs 3.6 lakh.
“Further, posing as the DRDO chairman, the suspect got in touch with people over WhatsApp and arranged a fabricated identity card and project work,” police said, adding he cheated many people like this and also gave fake appointment letters, thus posing a threat to the security of the DRDO as well.
