Hyderabad: The Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME) launched a sailing coaching camp in the city. The camp, to be held from August 1 to 11, will train 32 aspiring sailors from across the nation.
Being conducted by EME Sailing Association (EMESA) and Laser Class Association of India (LCAI) at Hussain Sagar, this is a precursor to the upcoming Hyderabad Sailing Week-2021. Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan is expected to flag off the Sailing Week on August 13.
Focussing on Laser class sail boats, the camp will cover technical and tactical aspects of sailing and Arjuna Awardee, Honorary Captain Rajesh Choudhary, VSM, was the chief coach for this camp.
Lt Gen TSA Narayanan, Commodore, EMESA in his inaugural address urged the budding sailors to make the most of this camp. “EME was established in 1964 and since then we’ve been at the forefront in the country in sailing. We provided a large number of sailors for various national and international events, including the Olympics,” he said.
