Medak: 40-year-old woman seriously injured in acid attack

Medak: Some unidentified miscreants resorted to an acid attack on a woman in the early hours of Monday at Gadi Peddapur village of Alladurgam Mandal in Medak district.
The victim, who is battling for life, was identified as Sathli Bai (40), a resident of Malkapur in Alladugram Mandal. Sathli Bai, a widow, was staying at her parents home with two daughters for the past few years. Sathli Bai, who had purchased half an acre land with her savings, used to eke out a livelihood by working as an agriculture labour in the village.
On Sunday, she left for Jogipet town to buy some groceries, but did not return home. Villagers of Gadi Peddapur found the woman in an unconscious state on the outskirts of the village in the small hours of Monday. She was rushed to Area Hospital Jogipet and later to Osmania General Hospital after providing first aid. Alladurgam police said Sathli Bai regained consciousness on Monday evening. They will try to take her statement on Tuesday with doctors permission to identify the accused.
Meanwhile, the family members said that one silver anklet on her was missing. Since she had suffered serious burn injuries, the doctors said that her condition was critical.
