Medak: A contractor, who took up renovation works under the Mana Ooru Mana Badi programme, locked the gate of the school and refused to allow the teachers and students into the school, demanding payment for his work on Tuesday.

Since the State government was delaying the payment for his work, contractor Dasaratham locked the gate of the Girls High School in Medak town and sat in protest before the gate. This forced the students and teachers to wait at the gate until the police and other officials intervened. The officials assured to take the issue to the notice of the higher-ups and get the funds granted, after which the contractor relented.

Several contractors were said to be suffering as the government was delaying the release of funds under the Mana Ooru Mana Badi programme, launched by the previous BRS government to improve standards and conditions and offer more facilities in government schools.
