Medak: The behaviour of Medak police came under serious scrutiny after Havelighanpur SI Satyanarayana and other police personnel allegedly thrashed a complainant during Prajavani while officials and complainants were present.

According to the complainant, Madaboyina Narasimhulu, his son Anil died while on duty at MSN company in Chegunta in 2015. Narasimhulu (55), a resident of Polampally in Chegunta mandal, came to the Collectorate on Monday to lodge a complaint seeking action against the management for alleged negligence.

Narasimhulu, who had earlier climbed a cell tower near his village, demanded that the MSN management provide employment to his family members. As the management was not accepting his request, Narasimhulu recently visited the Medak SP office, where officials advised him to lodge a complaint during Prajavani.

The police personnel, led by SI Satyanarayana, allegedly slapped him and pushed him out of the Collectorate. Even though he pleaded with folded hands, the police allegedly refused to heed his request. He reportedly fell unconscious for a brief period as the police personnel continued to assault him.

The police behaviour attracted widespread criticism from various sections of society. A video purportedly showing the police assaulting Narasimhulu went viral on social media. Later, the victim also staged a sit-in protest against the incident.
