Medak: The “Arrive and Alive” campaign, which was launched by Telangana Police to curb road accidents and promote safety, found a right ambassador to carry the awareness programmes under Narsingi police station limits. Since the Sub-inspcetor of Police Beemari Srujana, who lost her father in a road accident, was also victim of road accident, her speeches started attracting huge number of youths under her police station limits.

Srujana’s father Beemari Pochaiah (35) died in a road accident in Kamareddy district on April 17, 2011 after he sustained a serious head injury. Pochaiah would have survived if he was wearing a helmet at the time of mishap. Srujana was just in her 7th class when she lost her father. Her mother found it difficult to take care of four children. Being second of the four children, Srujana focused on her studies and got selected in the Police recruitment examination to land in a job in 2024 and support her mother. Srujana was now backing her younger sister and brother to complete their studies.

Speaking to ‘Telangana Today’, Srujana said her father, who worked as an LIC agent, used to travel to villages as part of his profession. She said that her father did not wear the helmet on the day he met with the accident. The news of his death shattered their family as they lost the family’s only bread winnner. Srujana said that her both younger siblings were below the age of 10 years. When they did not get desired support from relatives, the young SI said that her mother garnered support from her brothers and encouraged them to pursue studies. The narration of her moving story had inspired many youngsters to wear helmets and parents under the police station are insisting their children to wear helmets.

“I just wanted to see no family should suffer like me, my mother and sibilings, the young woman SI could not control from crying during her speeches recalling the fateful day. Former ZPTC Kista Reddy donated 80 helmets at Vallabhapur. Srujana appealed all the two-wheeler riders to must wear helmets, to avoid their family pushing into crisis.
