Visakhapatnam: Noted environmentalist Medha Patkar gave a call for stopping privatisation of Visakhapatnam steel plant and protecting the country.

Addressing the joint action committee against privatisation of the plant at the relay fast camp which entered the 261st day on Saturday, Medha Patkar, who came all the way from Mumbai to meet the steel workers, alleged that the Modi government was giving away the Vizag steel plant worth Rs.2.5 lakh crore, for a song to the private players. The Centre, which failed to provide employment to the needy, was plotting to remove the existing employees which was why it resorted to privatisation of the public sector, she stated.
