Meerpet woman constable dies by suicide; family alleges harassment by husband

Manisha, a 28-year-old constable posted at Meerpet police station, died by suicide after consuming poison. Her family alleges harassment by her husband. Police have registered a case and are probing the circumstances that led to the incident.

Hyderabad: A woman constable working at Meerpet police station died by suicide after consuming poisonous substance at her house.

Manisha, (28), a 2020 batch constable was working at Meerpet police station for the last five years. A week ago, following family issues she had reportedly consumed poisonous substance at her house.


“Manisha was shifted to a private hospital at Nampally for treatment. She died while undergoing treatment on Friday night,” said the Meerpet police.

A case is registered. The police are trying to ascertain the exact reasons that prompted the woman to end her life. The family members however told the police that she was being harassed by her husband.
