Hyderabad: The Telangana government has introduced a new generation of security paper for Meeseva certificates, incorporating 15 advanced security features to prevent counterfeiting and unauthorised duplication.
Manufactured using specialised technology, the new paper is designed to be tear-proof and resistant to water damage and wear and tear caused by routine handling, folding and long-term storage. Officials said details of the 15 security features had been withheld for security reasons.
The enhanced durability is expected to help citizens preserve important certificates in good condition for years. Under normal conditions, the improved paper is also expected to reduce the need for lamination, offering greater convenience while helping protect documents over the long term.
IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu formally launched the new certificate paper here on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said many government certificates were documents that citizens needed to preserve for decades, sometimes throughout their lives. It was the government’s responsibility to ensure that these documents remained durable, secure and reliable, he said.
The introduction of the new security paper would improve certificate durability and strengthen safeguards against forgery and counterfeiting, Sridhar Babu said. The initiative would also reinforce public confidence in the authenticity and reliability of government-issued documents.
Meeseva centres have been providing a wide range of government services to citizens across Telangana. Special security paper has been used to print Meeseva certificates since 2011.
