Hyderabad: Several memes and conversations have been revolving around UPI payment app ‘Google Pay’ since this morning. Here is why. Ranjit, popular as Geeky Ranjit, a Hyderabad-based tech writer and reviewer had tweeted asking which payment app people use, adding that he was using UPI apps from last year for majority of his payments due to the ongoing pandemic—No contact payment.
Tweeple started replying to his tweet in the form of memes placing Paytm and Phonepe as their top priorities. And slowly the subject went viral, with many others coming up with their own versions.
Several users were seen striking a balance between the different apps, giving GooglePay as their least preference. GooglePay which was earlier Tez was the most used app in the beginning. Few users were also given exciting rewards whenever they made any payment. But Gpay’s performance was noticeably low due to trouble in adding bank accounts, server glitches, payments failures, and other transaction issues.
Earlier Gpay users used to get a lot of rewards and cashbacks for a lot of payments. However, the hard truth which a Gpay user experience is that every time you open a reward, one can see ‘Better luck next time’. And even if one wins, it’s most Re.1 or Rs.2.
