Hyderabad: The Medchal district excise task force team on Saturday arrested four persons on charges of possessing Mephedrone drug.
The cost of the seized Mephedrone was around Rs.2 crore, said Medchal district Prohibition and Excise officer K Vijaya Bhaskar.
Based on information, an excise team raided a flat in SV Selectron apartment at New Balajinagar in Kukatpally and detained a person identified as Ch Prashanth Reddy (24) of Karimnagar and seized five grams of Mephedrone.
During interrogation, Pavan admitted that Kanna Reddy alias Mahesh Kanna Reddy was supplying the substance. Another excise team then raided a lodge at Bonguloor gate and took Kanna Reddy into custody after recovering 921 grams of Mephedrone. “We questioned Kanna Reddy who informed that K Rama Krishna Goud of Bavajipally village in Nagarkurnool district was supplying the contraband,” said Bhaskar. One more excise team went to Nagarkurnool and detained Goud.
Around four kgs of Mephedrone was seized from Goud’s sport utility vehicle. When the excise officials questioned him, Goud disclosed the name of B Hanumanth Reddy of Bavajipally village in Nagarkurnool and Suresh Reddy.
Bhaskar said Hanumanth Reddy and Suresh Reddy were absconding. “We will be able to know the source of Mephedrone once we nab them,” he said. Bhaskar added that Hanumanth was earlier arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) two years ago.
