Mild tension at Tank Bund during Ambedkar death anniversary event

Mild tension broke out at Tank Bund during Dr B R Ambedkar’s death anniversary when Mala Sangham members confronted Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, demanding amendments to the SC classification law. Police quickly dispersed the protesters, and no untoward incidents were reported.

Hyderabad: Mild tension was reported during the death anniversary observance of Dr B R Ambedkar at Tank Bund on Saturday.

The incident occurred around noon, when Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and film producer and Chairman of Telangana Film Development Corporation, Dil Raju, who arrived to pay floral tributes at the Ambedkar statue, were confronted by members of the Mala Sangham.


The protesters raised slogans demanding immediate amendments to the Scheduled Caste classification law and surrounded the Deputy CM, leading to tense moments at the venue.

The police personnel who were present there immediately intervened and dispersed the agitators from the spot, restoring normalcy. No untoward incidents were reported. Following the incident, additional force was deployed at the spot.
