Mild tension in Karimnagar as BRS candidate Kurra Thirupathi arrested

Mild tension prevailed in Karimnagar’s 28th division after police arrested BRS candidate Kurra Thirupathi for allegedly trying to prevent a Congress candidate from influencing voters. MLA Gangula Kamalakar intervened, leading to Thirupathi’s release and allegations against the Congress party

Karimnagar: Mild tension prevailed in the 28th division of Kisannagar here on Wednesday after police arrested BRS candidate Kurra Thirupathi.

Police arrested Thirupathi after he reportedly tried to prevent the rival Congress candidate from influencing voters. While he was being shifted to the police station in a vehicle, local MLA Gangula Kamalakar rushed to the spot and, after speaking to the police, got Thirupathi released.

Speaking on the occasion, Kamalakar said that the Congress party was trying to disturb the peaceful atmosphere in Karimnagar town. The Congress candidate, who came from Dharmaram, was creating fear in the division by threatening local people, he alleged.
