Mini jataras begin on grand scale across Karimnagar

Karimnagar: Mini Sammakka-Sarakka jataras started on a colourful note in different areas of erstwhile Karimnagar district on Wednesday. The biennial tribal fair started with the arrival of Goddess Sarakka, daughter of the Goddess Sammakka, at jatara sites.
Welfare Minister Koppula Eashwar visited jatara in Peddapalli and Jagtial districts and performed special pujas by having the darshan of goddess.
Minister visited Dharmaram, Nandimedaram, Botlavanaparthy, Dongathurthy of Peddapalli and Rajarampalli, Velgatur mandal of Jagitial district and offered jaggery of his equivalent weight, which is a famous tradition in Sammakka-Sarakka jatara. Ramagundam MLA Korukanti Chander performed special pujas at Godavarikhani jatara and offered jaggery to the goddess. Peddapalli collector Sangeeta Satyanarayana visited Godavarikhani jatara site and examined arrangements.
Mini jataras are being held in different places across the old Karimangar district. District administration made all arrangements including drinking water, lighting, toilets, bathing showers and others for jatara.
