Yadadr-Bhongir: An argument between Minister G Jagadish Reddy and Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy led to tense moments at the new ration cards distribution programme in Choutuppal on Monday.
Rajagopal Reddy tried to grab the mike from the Minister at one stage leading to noisy scenes as the TRS and Congress workers rushed to the dais forcing police to intervene. Rajagopal Reddy left the venue in the middle of the meeting.
When Jagadish Reddy was explaining the welfare schemes taken up by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, the Congress MLA raised an objection saying it was not the time to talk politics. He also expressed strong displeasure over violation of protocol in his Assembly constituency.
Continuing his speech after normalcy was restored at the programme, Jagadish Reddy said that the leaders of opposition parties were resorting to downgraded politics for their interests. The allegations made by the opposition party leader were meaningless and baseless. He pointed out that the people did not believe the allegations made by opposition parties against the TRS government between 2014 and 2018 and again voted the TRS to power in the 2018 Legislative Assembly elections. No party was playing a responsible opposition role in the State. The leaders of opposition parties also tried to create hurdles to our irrigation projects by approaching the court.
Stating that the Chief Minister has decided to launch the Dalit Bandhu scheme to change the lives of the dalits, he said that the State government would implement the scheme at any cost.
Speaking to the media outside the venue, Rajagopal Reddy alleged that he was forcibly sent out from the meeting. He alleged that the State government has taken up Dalit Bandhu keeping mind by-elections to Huzurabad Assembly Constituency. The state government was intentionally not sanctioning funds for the development of his Assembly constituency. He questioned as to whether there were no dailts in his constituency. The benefit of the scheme should be extended to all dailts in the State, he added.
