Nirmal: Forest Minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy on Monday said the Endowments Department witnessed remarkable growth after State formation.
He organised a programme titled Ashtottara Shata Pandita Dampathee sanmanam or felicitation of 108 vedic scholars from prominent temples across Telangana. Speaking on the occasion, Indrakaran opined that the Endowments Department underwent an unprecedented development and was winning the praises of the devotees. He stated that under the aegis of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, the famed Sri Laxminarasimha Swamy was being renovated like never before and arrangements were being made to re-inaugurate it in March.
The Minister further stated special funds were allocated for developing the ancient Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Devasthanam in Vemulawada, Sri Gnana Saraswathi Devastanam of Basar, Sri Laxmi Narasimha Swamy temple in Dharmapur. Efforts were being made to create better amenities for devotees while ensuring the welfare of priests at the temples. Priests are being paid salaries on par with employees of the endowments department, he explained.
Indrakaran said that he was fortunate to have felicitated the scholars and to worship at their feet. He expressed gratitude to the scholars for gracing the occasion. He said that no Endowments minister registered victory after helming the portfolio. He, however, won from Nirmal Assembly constituency and was heading the department for the second time in a row.
He thanked the Chief Minister for giving the opportunity. He added that he had laid a focus on the development of the constituency and serving the public. He and his wife, Vijayalaxmi, son Goutham Reddy, daughter-in-law Divya Reddy were blessed by the scholars.
