Hyderabad: Sports minister V Srinivas Goud congratulated Mekala Bhaskar Reddy, an international athlete in under-45, and his son Abhinay Reddy under-20 international badminton player, for winning medals in various events, at his camp office on Wednesday.

Bhaskar Reddy is a senior athlete, who participated in many national and international events in various categories and won medals. His son Abhinay is making waves in the badminton circuit. Recently Bhaskar Reddy won two gold and two silver medals in sprint, shot put and 10 km run in Nepal and Sri Lanka.

“After the formation of Telangana State, we are working for the development of sports in the State as per the directions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. We recognise and encourage athletes who excel in sports” he said. Two per cent reservations in jobs and 0.5 per cent reservation for higher education is being provided to sports persons to promote sports,”.
