Minister Ponguleti says case against son false and political
Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy dismissed allegations that his son was involved in land grabbing at Gandipet, stating police followed normal procedure. He said any irregularity would face punishment and criticised the opposition for making false charges against the government.
Hyderabad: Adopting a defiant stand on the opposition parties’ charges over alleged land grabbing by his son, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy maintained that when a person files a complaint against another person, police usually register a case.
“I can direct the police not to register a case but this government does not have such attitude. After a case is registered, officers conduct a probe and if there is any irregularity, it may be my son or myself or any other person, they are liable for punishment,” Srinivas Reddy said at a press conference here on Friday.
The main opposition still feels that they continue to be in power. The case registered against his son was false, he said, stressing that this was the transparency of the State government.
The Revenue Minister’s son’s alleged involvement in land grabbing at Gandipet has triggered a political storm in the State. A case has been registered by the Gachibowli police. The opposition parties are slamming the State government for its failure to maintain law and order.
The Minister further said he does not want to comment on the reports being published in a section of media over the land grabbing charges. “I leave it to their wisdom,” he said.
