Minister Sabitha directs officials to reopen all hostels too

Hyderabad: With schools in the State all set to reopen on Wednesday, Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy instructed the officials to make sure all the Covid-19 protocols were followed in education institutions.

In a virtual meeting with the officials from education department and Vice-Chancellors of the Universities on Monday, she directed the reopening of all the hostels too.

The Minister wanted sanitisers to be provided at educational institutions and ensure that all the students and staff wear a mask. “It has come to our notice that sanitation and related works in some institutions are yet to be completed. They should be taken up on a war footing and completed by August 31,” the Minister said.

Where required, the help of elected representatives should be taken to have the amenities in place and adherence to the prescribed guidelines.

Seeking measures to ensure that drinking water and electricity were made available at all the educational institutions, the Minister directed the officials to monitor private institutions too.
