Warangal: Minister Konda Surekha’s daughter Konda Susmitha, staking her claim to the Parkal MLA seat, has stated that she would begin her political career by winning from Parkal in the next Assembly elections.
This comes even as there have been multiple complaints in the past against Minister Surekha and her husband, former MLC Konda Muralidhar Rao, over their alleged unilateral approach in running party affairs in the Warangal East constituency and their rather caustic remarks against party colleagues. Susmitha’s statement has stirred a political row in the constituency, besides reportedly irking the sitting MLA Revuri Prakash Reddy and others, as she unequivocally declared herself a contender for the seat and said she would dedicate her life to public service.
She addressed the gathering at the annual Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple Jatara, popularly known as Kommala Jatara, at Kommala village in Geesukonda mandal of the district on Tuesday night and said she would start her political journey from Parkal. Former MLC Muralidhar Rao, who accompanied his daughter, described her as a brave leader. He said she would be available locally to party cadres to look after their needs, adding that he would ensure she becomes the Parkal MLA, as the crowd cheered.
Referring to Susmitha’s confrontation with the police and her role in foiling an attempt to arrest the Minister’s OSD N Sumanth on October 15, 2025, at their residence in Hyderabad, he said his daughter would spare none when she chose to take up a fight. The former MLC, stating that his family hails from Geesukonda, asserted that “Parkal is ours” while asking cadres to support Susmitha. It may be recalled that Surekha was elected as Parkal MLA once in the past. The family had also made efforts to secure the Congress ticket to field Susmitha from Bhupalpally in the previous elections.
