Nizamabad: The Nizamabad police on Sunday arrested three persons including a minor boy for allegedly stealing motorcycles from various parking places in the district.
A total of 23 motorcycles were seized from the possession of the arrested persons – K Gangadhar alias Shaik Abdul Rehman, Aslam Khan Patan and the minor boy. Another person, Sohail alias Chottu was absconding, said Nizamabad Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) A Venkateswar.
He said the gang members were stealing motorcycles, which were parked in front of houses and commercial complexes in Dichpally and Mamidipalli at night. The gang was caught when Rehman was attempting to sell a stolen bike in Kamareddy when a police team intercepted and detained him.
After being grilled, Rehman admitted that he along with Patan, Chottu and the minor boy had stolen 23 bikes using a duplicate key in the last five months. As part of their attempts to sell each stolen motorcycle to persons known to them, Rehman was shifting a bike to Kamareddy when the police nabbed him.
Based on his confession, the police nabbed Patan and the minor boy, said Venkateswar. Police inquiries revealed that Rehman was also involved in a theft case, which was reported five years ago.
Nizamabad Police Commissioner Kartikeya appreciated the Town Circle Inspector B Satyanarayana and fourth Town Sub-Inspector K Sandeep and other staff for arresting the vehicle theft offenders.
