Hyderabad: The Government Railway Police (GRP), Secunderabad, with the assistance of the Railway Protection Force (RPF), rescued a minor boy who had been kidnapped from Secunderabad Railway Station and arrested the alleged kidnapper.
The accused was identified as Shaik Ahmed Ali Saheb (42), a master cook residing at Chintal.
Police said he allegedly abducted the child from the railway station on June 20, after noticing the boy sleeping beside his mother on a platform. He reportedly took the child to his house, intending to raise him as his own son because he desired a male child.
According to police, Shaik Ahmed ignored repeated advice from his family and neighbours to hand over the child to the police. However, after media reports highlighted the kidnapping, he took the boy to Jeedimetla Police Station and falsely claimed he had found him abandoned on a road.
During questioning, however, he allegedly confessed to kidnapping the child. The rescued boy was safely handed over to the family by the police.
