Nalgonda: A minor girl was allegedly raped and murdered by a tractor driver in the town on Tuesday. According to police sources, the girl was reportedly in love with the accused, Gaddam Krishna, a tractor driver from Gutta Kinda Annaram village, for the past few months. Preliminary investigations reveal that Krishna intercepted her around 8:30 am while she was en route to college.

He convinced her to accompany him to a friend’s room on Shamsnagar Road Number 8, where he allegedly assaulted her sexually before strangling her to death in a fit of rage, possibly after an altercation. The incident sparked widespread uproar, with the victim’s family resorting to protests.

Nalgonda Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shivaram Reddy rushed to the crime scene on receiving information. A case has been registered under charges of rape, murder, and provisions of the POCSO Act.

Forensic teams have collected evidence from the site, and a detailed probe is underway. Police are looking for Krishna, who fled the scene. “We are interrogating witnesses and examining CCTV footage from nearby areas. The accused will be apprehended soon,” DSP Reddy told reporters at the scene.
