Minor girl rescued after illegal marriage in Ranga Reddy

A 13-year-old girl studying in Class 8 was married off by her mother to a 40-year-old man in Nandigama mandal, Ranga Reddy district. The school principal alerted the authorities. The girl was rescued, and multiple people have been booked.

Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a minor girl aged 13 years was married to a 40-year-old man at Nandigama mandal in Ranga Reddy district.

The girl, a student of Class 8 in the local Zilla Parishad High School, was married on 5 July by her mother, Shravanthi, to one Srinivas Goud of Chevella mandal against the girl’s wishes.


The school principal, who got wind of the incident, informed the local police and revenue authorities. The girl was rescued.

A case has been registered against Shravanthi, Srinivas Goud, the priest who performed the marriage, and a couple who helped fix the alliance. Investigation is going on.
