HYDERABAD: Representatives of various minority organisations and community leaders demanded the immediate withdrawal of G.O.Ms.No.20, alleging it facilitated the lease of the Telangana Urdu Academy land to private parties, and called upon the State government to implement the promises made to minorities.

The demands were made at a Round Table Conference held on Friday under the leadership of ILWF Chairman Mir Inayath Ali Baqri and MUF Chairman Moulana Khairuddin Sufi.

The meeting was attended by several prominent personalities, including advocate Waheed Ahmed, former member of the Telangana State Waqf Board and former BRS State secretary, along with MA Siddiqui, Raheem Ullah Khan Niyazi, Prof Anwar Khan, advocate Md Afzal Uddin, Asif Umri, Mujahed Hashmi, Muneer Patel, Jaweed Hashmi, Shahbaz Niyazi, and others.

Addressing the gathering, Waheed Ahmed criticised what he described as the Congress government’s attitude towards minorities and said the community would launch a State-wide campaign to press for the fulfilment of its demands. He announced that representations would be submitted to MLAs and Members of Parliament in every Assembly constituency across Telangana.

He also proposed the formation of Assembly-wise ad hoc action committees to coordinate the campaign and create greater public awareness on minority-related issues.

Among the key resolutions adopted at the conference were the immediate withdrawal of G.O.Ms.No.20 and restoration of the Telangana Urdu Academy land to the Academy. The participants also urged the government to implement the assurances made in the Minority Declaration, ensure that Anees-ul-Gurba is utilised strictly in accordance with the objectives of the Waqf, and withdraw the proposal concerning the Shahi Masjid land for the establishment of a club.
