Mirabai Chanu wins Asian Games silver, completes medal collection

Mirabai Chanu won silver in the women’s 49kg weightlifting event at the Asian Games in Nagoya, ending India’s 28-year wait for a medal in the sport. She had finished fourth at the Hangzhou Games in 2023.

Hyderabad: Mirabai Chanu wins a silver at Asian Games 2026. In the last edition of Asian Games, she had finished 4th.

After Karnam Malleshwari, Mirabai Chanu becomes the second Indian weightlifter to win a medal in all major international weightlifting events – Olympics, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, World Championships, Asian and Commonwealth Championships.
