Miracle surgery in Hyderabad: Surgeons remove 52 fibroids and save fertility of Canadian nurse
Fibroids are non-cancerous growths that form in or on the uterus, varying in size and number. While MRI scans showed the patient had seven fibroids, the surgical team encountered an unexpected challenge. "As we operated, fibroids began appearing in large numbers," explained Dr. Prabha Agrawal, a gynecologist at Care Hospitals, Hitec City.
Hyderabad: The surgeons at Care Hospitals, Hitec City on Monday announced successful fertility-preserving fibroid surgery on a 42-year-old Canadian nurse. In total, the surgeons removed 52 fibroids while preserving the patient’s uterus, ensuring her fertility remains intact, doctors said.
Fibroids are benign growths that develop in or on the uterus and vary in size and number. The MRI Scans revealed that the patient had seven fibroids. However, during surgery, the team discovered an unexpected complication. The fibroids began appearing in large numbers like as we operated, explained Dr. Prabha Agrawal, Gynaecologist, Care Hospitals, Hitec City.
Fibroids are the most common cause of heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, and, in some cases, infertility. Fertility-preserving surgeries like myomectomy are critical for women who wish to conceive in the future, and their success requires advanced medical expertise and state-of-the-art facilities, Dr Prabha added.
The recovered patient from Canada expressed gratitude to the hospital care givers for the successful surgery.
