Miryalaguda: MBA graduate turns vehicle lifter after failing in transport business

Suryapet: An MBA graduate, who failed in transport business, turned a truck thief to earn money, police said. Achanta Gangadhar Rao of Thimmapur of Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh completed his MBA and had set up transport business after failing to get any job. He purchased two lorries on finance but when he failed to pay the EMIs, the lending company seized the two lorries. Subsequently, he chose to stealing trucks to earn money.

Miryalaguda rural police on Wednesday arrested three persons including Gangadhar Rao on charges of stealing a lorry in the town. Sheik Haji of Nampally and Mohammed Adbul Raheem of Pahadishareef in Hyderabad were also arrested by the police for their alleged involvement in the sale of the stolen lorry. Kappunuri Ganesh and Kodimalla Paripurna Chary were stated to be absconding. Police seized a lorry worth Rs 24 lakhs from their possession.

Presenting the arrested at a media conference, Superintendent of Police Rema Rajeshwari informed that Gangadhar Rao had also worked as a driver on his own lorry for some time After closure of his transport business, he has started stealing the vehicles particularly lorries from 2009. He was accused in 20 cases in Andhra Pradesh state.

He stayed in a lodge at Haliya for two months with a plan to steal lorries from Miryalaguda. He stole an Ashok Leyland lorry, which was parked near Lorry association Office at Miryalagyda on January 2. He sold the lorry to Ganesh for Rs 4 lakh. Ganesh had removed the number plate and painted white color to the lorry. When Ganesh approached a three-member gang, which was involved in purchase of stolen vehicles, they asked them to bring a lorry to Miryalaguda. On credible information, the police apprehended the lorry and arrested the gang members.
