Hyderabad: A driver from the Miryalguda depot attempted self-immolation at the Nalgonda depot on Thursday evening, but was stopped in time by colleagues.
Ravula Venkanna, who was taking part in the ongoing strike at the Nalgonda depot, allegedly brought petrol in a bottle to the premises around 6 pm.
While employees were raising slogans, he poured petrol on himself and attempted to set himself on fire. Colleagues noticed his actions and intervened immediately. They snatched the petrol bottle and removed his clothes, preventing the situation from escalating.
Venkanna was shifted to a hospital soon after the incident. Doctors said he was stable but out of danger, according to reports.
