Hyderabad: Noted breast cancer specialist and founder of Hyderabad-based Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation, Dr P Raghu Ram, on Wednesday urged people not to circulate fake news claiming that the winner of this year’s Miss World 2025 from Thailand, Opal Suchata, had breast cancer.
The recent news that Opal Suchata had breast cancer is not true. The Miss World winner had a benign breast lump and not breast cancer. These untrue and unfounded statements being widely circulated about her breast cancer diagnosis must stop and course corrected to avoid embarrassment to the Miss World winner and her family, he said.
She had a benign breast lump, which was surgically removed when she was 16. After that, Opal Suchata founded a not-for-profit charity ‘OPAL FOR HER’ to raise awareness on early detection of breast cancer, offer free screenings and provide funding to fight breast cancer in Thailand, Dr Raghu Ram said.
“I had the opportunity to interact with Opal Suchata in Hyderabad and am very impressed with the impactful breast cancer advocacy campaign being spearheaded by her Foundation in Thailand,” Dr Raghu Ram added.
