Missing siblings found dead in pit in Uppal

Hyderabad: Two siblings, both boys, who were reported missing since Tuesday were found dead in a pit filled with water at a construction site in Uppal Bhagayath on Wednesday.

They are suspected to have accidentally drowned in it, police said.


As per available information, the boys identified as Manikanta (12) and Arjun (10) who are children of Venkatesh and Sujatha from Uppal had gone out to play with their friends informing their parents on Tuesday afternoon, but did not return.

Their parents and relatives who realized the children were missing searched for him in all possible places, but could not find them. They approached the police and lodged a missing complaint. Even as the police and the family members were searching for the children, the construction workers and locals found the children dead in the pit and informed the police.

According to the police, while playing, the duo are suspected to have come near in the vicinity of the site where a community hall was being constructed. The pits were dug up for construction of pillars. The children had slipped and fell into the pit, which was filled with rain water and drowned.

On receiving information, the Uppal police reached the spot and with the help of DRF personnel retrieved the bodies and shifted them to the hospital for autopsy.

A case was booked and is being investigated.
