Kumram Bheem Asifabad: People living in 1,151 habitations across Kumram Bheem-Asifabad district are now receiving potable drinking water under the Mission Bhagiratha scheme. Drinking water is being supplied to these habitations on a daily basis from Kumram Bheem Irrigation project at Ada and other local streams for the past two years, where efforts have begun to stabilise the water supply to provide drinking water to all habitations without any disruption.
Mission Bhagiratha Grid Executive Engineer P Nageshwar Rao said safe drinking water is being supplied to all the villages and hamlets of the Asifabad district. He said that except for minor repairs and technical snags of motors in certain habitations, drinking water was regularly being provided to all of the habitations from the Kumram Bheem Irrigation project and certain local streams. He stated that steps were being taken to ensure smooth supply of the water to the remote habitations of several mandals.
According to the officials, 357 habitations of seven mandals under Sirpur (T) Assembly constituency were being covered by the scheme. In particular, as many as 51 habitations in Bejjur and 25 habitations in Penchikalpet mandal were regularly being provided with the safe drinking water from the Kumram Bheem Irrigation project.
