MLA Jogu Ramanna takes part in a rasta-roko staged demanding revival of a sick unit of CCI in Adilabad on Thursday.
Adilabad: Adilabad MLA Jogu Ramanna demanded that the union government take steps to revive the sick unit of Cement Corporation India’s (CCI) unit in Adilabad at the earliest.
He took part in a rasta-roko on Hyderabad-Nagpur national highway number 44, demanding revival of the sick unit in Adilabad, here on Thursday.

The protest was organized by a joint action committee formed to struggle for the reopening of the unit.
Ramanna said that Adilabad MP Soyam Bapu Rao, who promised to strive hard to restart the CCI at the time of elections, forgot about it after winning. He asked Rao to bring the issue to the notice of Centre and to work hard for reviving it as early as possible.
Around 1,200 activists of the TRS and members of the JAC raised slogans against the union government for showing negligence in revival of the unit.
Traffic comes to standstill
Due to the blockade of vehicular movement on the busy highway, somewhere between 500 and 600 trucks, 300 two-wheelers, 100 cars and 50 buses came to a standstill for over an hour. The protest caused inconvenience to passengers of TSRTC buses, motorists.
In an innovative move, the members of JAC created a selfie-point titled ‘I Love CCI’ at Telangana Chowk in Adilabad district headquarters. The agitators and Ramanna took photos at the point. They shared the photos on social media platforms. Some locals and youngsters too clicked their selfies at this spot.
Former MP Godam Nagesh, Adilabad municipal chairperson Jogu Premender, the JAC member Govardhan Reddy and many others were present.
