Kothagudem: Telangana Jagruti president, MLC K Kavitha said that there was a need to stage agitations again for the self-respect of Telangana people, and that was why Telangana Jagruthi was being strengthened across the State.

She addressed a gathering of the Jagruthi workers here on Thursday and said that she was writing letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on the demerger of five villages merged in Andhra Pradesh back into Telangana.

There were three ministers in the joint Khammam district but they have failed to address the issue. Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao should take the initiative to demerge the five villages into Telangana, Kavitha said.

People were suffering due to pollution caused by the ITC factory in the surrounding areas of Bhadrachalam and that the three ministers should respond to the issue and take steps to resolve it, she demanded.

Telangana Jagruthi was fighting for the women, demanding Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to fulfill his promise to give 2,500 per month to women. The Chief Minister was shying away when he was called for a debate on Telangana development, the MLC noted.

The Jagruthi strongly opposes privatisation of Singareni coal mines, she said while demanding the State government revive the sponge iron factory in the district. Earlier in the day MLC Kavitha called on BRS district president R Kantha Rao, whose mother passed away recently and extended condolences.
