Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has announced Dasoju Sravan, a senior leader of the party, as its candidate for the upcoming MLC elections under the MLA quota. The announcement was made by party chief K Chandrashekhar Rao on Sunday.
The BRS president entrusted the responsibility of overseeing the nomination process to party working president K T Rama Rao.
Following Chandrashekhar Rao’s directive, Sravan was set to file his nomination on Monday.
Sravan is a prominent leader known for his role as a Telangana activist, former student leader, social worker, educator, researcher, consultant, corporate executive and politician. He currently serves as a senior leader in the Bharat Rashtra Samithi.
He was nominated by the party leadership for the post of MLC under the Governor’s quota in 2023. But in a surprising turn of events, the then Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan rejected the nominations of Dasoju Sravan and Kurra Satyanarayana to the Legislative Council. This decision created a new wave of political tensions between the Governor and the State government, with the issue going to the Supreme Court as well.
