Hyderabad: After the disastrous performance in the Huzurabad bypoll, the State unit of the Congress is likely to decide on contesting the Legislative Council elections under the local authorities’ constituencies, on Tuesday. The Political Affairs Committee of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) held a meeting through Zoom App on Monday. TPCC president A Revanth Reddy, AICC Secretaries N Bose Raju and Srinivasan Krishnan and senior leaders from the State unit participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, the leaders of election-bound nine districts were directed to furnish details of the party’s strength and the potential candidates in their respective 12 local authorities’ constituencies by Tuesday evening. Based on their inputs, a decision is expected to be taken on MLC polls.

Meanwhile, former Minister Mohd Shabbir Ali found fault with Siddipet Collector P Venkatrama Reddy for resigning from the post and evincing interest in joining the ruling TRS. “He has been working as a TRS activist. We lodged a complaint with President Ram Nath Kovind seeking action against the Siddipet Collector for touching the feet of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao at a programme in the past,” Shabbir Ali said in a statement on Monday.
