Hyderabad: MLR Institute of Technology (MLRIT) has emerged as a trendsetter by offering 146 free admissions under the sports quota since the academic year 2017-18. This initiative makes MLRIT the only engineering college in Telangana to consistently provide free seats to talented sports students, enabling them to pursue B.Tech, MBA, and M.Tech courses while excelling in their respective sporting disciplines, a press release said.

Marri Rajashekar Reddy, MLA, Malkajgiri, and Founder Secretary of MLRIT, said, “To encourage young sporting talent and provide equal opportunities for education, we introduced free admissions under the sports quota in the 2017-18 academic year. Our vision is to maintain a perfect balance between academics and sports, ensuring that deserving students achieve excellence in both fields.”

He also paid heartfelt tribute to his father, Marri Laxman Reddy, a veteran athlete, calling him his role model and the inspiration behind MLRIT’s strong focus on promoting sports.
