Hyderabad: Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) has identified 40 Ganesh immersion centres across three zones and made arrangements for sanitation, safety and waste disposal.

MMC Commissioner T Vinay Krishna Reddy, in a press release on Sunday, said the immersion centres comprise 20 locations in Malkajgiri zone, 11 in Uppal zone and nine in LB Nagar zone. They include 18 lakes, seven ponds or baby ponds, and 15 artificial ponds or portable tanks. Facilities will also be set up at the water bodies at Saroornagar, Safilguda, Shamirpet and Edulabad, and artificial immersion facilities will be arranged in parks, playgrounds and market yards.

MMC plans to deploy 84 static and mobile cranes at major lakes, ponds and artificial immersion tanks and deploy swimmers, boats and life-saving equipment under Disaster Response Force teams.

During the festivities, 168 Ganesh Action Teams will be deployed along 56 procession routes across 13 circles. A total of 1,356 sanitation personnel will work in three shifts to provide round-the-clock services. Garbage bags will be available at every Ganesh pandal, while sanitation teams will regularly clear waste, trash, and stones. Waste will be transported daily, with mini tippers and JCBs used particularly on immersion day, the Commissioner said.
