Kothagudem: District Collector Anudeep Durishetty launched a mobile Covid vaccination drive here on Monday.
The Collector flagged off the vaccination vehicles for administration of Covid vaccine to people in rural areas. Speaking on the occasion, he said 11 vehicles would be used to carry out the vaccination drive in the villages.
The Collector said the Covid vaccine was being administered at all government hospitals. But those living in remote areas were facing difficulty in reaching the hospitals to take the vaccine and hence the mobile vaccination drive was launched.
It was planned to vaccinate around 2200 persons in a day with the help of the mobile vaccination drive. In the first phase the vehicles would be employed to vaccinate people in Cherla, Karakagudem, Aswapuram, Mulkalapalli, Julurpad, Aswaraopet and Gundala mandals.
Anudeep said the mobile vaccination was pressed into service to ensure that everyone over the age of 18 years gets vaccinated against the Covid disease. He appealed to the people to take advantage of this opportunity and receive the Covid vaccine.
The Collector directed the officials to ensure all eligible persons receive the vaccine and educate the public that getting vaccine shots was safe. He said he would take up field visits to monitor the vaccination drive in the villages.
DM&HO, Dr. JVL Sirisha and programme officer Dr. Nagendra Prasad were present.
