Hyderabad: Intensifying Covid containment measures in the city, the health department along with Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has pressed into service mobile vaccination teams.
On Thursday, 23 customised vans went around busy markets and crowded areas in the city to make sure all the people falling under the high risk category were vaccinated.
The vaccine is being administered in the 15 Assembly segments of Hyderabad district and the mobile teams are vaccinating around 7,000 individuals every day. Busy markets such as Gudimalkapur Market, Monda Market and Ameerpet Market are some among several places where these vehicles were deployed.
Another new initiative as a part of the exercise is spot vaccine registration. “Scores of people are approaching us every day after seeing the vehicle in markets. We are enrolling their details in the app and administering them with the free jab,” said a GHMC official.
Vaccination at the doorstep also ensured families of the people who work in the market were administered with the vaccine. Before the mobile vaccination drive, several family members of the vendors were not vaccinated as they were not present at the stall/store when e-coupons were being generated.
Soon as vendors in the markets saw the vehicles, they called their family members and staffers to get enrolled on the spot. “Our family members assist us at the shops and they come in contact with the people who visit markets. Spot registration facility has helped us getting the jab,” said P Anirudh at the Monda Market, Secunderabad.
The free vaccines are being administered at committee offices of these markets which are partitioned into three segments – registration desk, vaccination centre and waiting area. Post-vaccine beneficiaries were instructed with precautionary measures and the medicines that need to be taken in case of fever.
