Hyderabad: The efforts of the State government to make sure all the eligible people in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits are vaccinated gained momentum on Wednesday with more vehicles being added to the mobile vaccination drive.
After deploying 150 mobile vaccination teams earlier this week, the civic body has now pressed into service 594 vehicles, including cars and autos. These 594 vehicles, equipped with a public address system, are going to colonies to inform the residents about the drive. Some of these vehicles are also being used to pick and drop beneficiaries.
The efforts are yielding results, revealed GHMC records, with 585 colonies in the GHMC area being declared 100 percent vaccinated by Wednesday. This meant 47,104 persons got their first dose and 7,304 persons were administered with the second dose. These colonies had a banner being raised declaring ‘We are 100 percent vaccinated’. A total of 4,182 personnel from GHMC and 1,639 from the Health department are on the job to vaccinate all eligible people in the city as part of the special drive.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar on Wednesday visited the vaccination centre at Pariwar Township in Chandrayangutta and appealed to the people to utilise the vaccination drive and to get themselves vaccinated. He also requested public representatives to motivate people. During his inspection, officials informed the Chief Secretary that the door-to-door survey was completed and people who were yet to receive their first dose of vaccine were identified. Somesh Kumar was accompanied by Health Secretary SAM Rizvi, GHMC Commissioner DS Lokesh Kumar, Hyderabad District Collector L Sharman and other officials.
