Khammam: Modern technology was being deployed to lay roads in Khammam city to ensure quality and durability, Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar said on Tuesday.
The minister said that with the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund (SDF) of Rs 30 crore, as many as 140 roads were being laid in different municipal divisions in the city. He was speaking after inaugurating newly laid CC roads in 53rd, 26th, 24th and 12th divisions here.
Speaking on the occasion, Ajay Kumar noted that the State government was giving importance to infrastructure development in urban areas. Black top (BT) roads have already been laid on several major stretches in the city to provide better transport facilities to the citizens.
CC roads were being laid in every division to connect residential colonies under the limits of Khammam Municipal Corporation as part of Khammam urban development, the minister said.
He explained that the vacuum dewatering concrete (VDF) system was being used to lay roads in the city to make them suitable for high abrasion and heavy traffic movement, in addition to maintaining quality in the works.
Mayor P Neeraja, deputy Mayor Fatima Zohara, SUDA Chairman Bachu Vijay Kumar, Municipal Commissioner Adarsh Surabhi, Public Health EE Ranjith, corporator Karnati Krishna and others were present.
