Khammam: The BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is pushing the country towards bankruptcy, said senior CPI leader and former MLA Puvvada Nageswar Rao.

The BJP led NDA came to power with the promise of developing the nation on all fronts, but contrary to the promise the government is privatising all key public sector entities, he alleged.
Nageswar Rao, addressing the general body meeting of the party here on Monday, cautioned the people to be wary of the forces that are trying to gain political mileage by instigating religious sentiments.

In the recently held elections in many States, BJP has provoked the religious sentiments of voters to win the elections. This kind of approach towards electoral politics will pose danger to democracy, he noted.

The CPI leader pointed out that because of the anti-people policies of the State and Central governments, the public is forced to bear high taxes. He wanted the CPI party workers to focus on ensuing Khammam Municipal Corporation (KMC) elections.

Nageswar Rao told the party leaders and workers to get ready to contest in 12 municipal divisions in the elections. At present the situation looks promising for the Left parties to work together in the elections. The CPI State assistant secretary K Sambasiva Rao stated that the rights of the people are being suppressed in Prime Minister Modi’s rule.

With the recent Farm Laws introduced by the Centre, the farmers will be left at the mercy of the corporate forces, he said. Meanwhile, CPI candidate for Khammam-Nalgonda-Warangal Graduates’ MLC constituency Jayasaradhi Reddy along with party leaders B Hemantha Rao, P Prasad and others met morning walkers at pavilion grounds seeking support in the elections.
