Hyderabad: Even as protests erupted across Telangana, netizens took to social media platforms to express their ire against the comments made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the formation of Telangana State. They strongly condemned the Prime Minister’s remarks as ‘irresponsible’ and ‘not-fit-for-his-stature’, with the hashtag ‘#ModiEnemyofTelangana’ trending on Twitter.
Within an hour of the mention of the hashtag ‘#ModiEnemyofTelangana,’ it had more than 25,000 tweets becoming the second most tweeted topic in the country in general category and the top most tweeted topic in political category. The netizens condemned the comments of Modi and demanded that he apologise to the people of Telangana, just like he did to farmers after repealing the contentious Farm Laws.
The Twitterati pointed out that Telangana became a reality after consultations, debates and most importantly, massive agitation taken up by the people. A few felt that considering the Prime Minister’s statements, people of Telangana must remain cautious about the BJP leadership and snub any attempt to intervene in the State affairs beyond the Constitutional obligations.
Some netizens on Facebook and other social media also pointed out at the injustice being meted out by the union government to Telangana repeatedly in terms of resolving pending issues, release of funds and sanction of new projects, besides the Centre’s failure to support the young and progressive State.
