Hyderabad: Mohammed Azharuddin was back in whites. The former Indian captain, who is now the president of Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), practiced at Gymkhana grounds along with under-19 boys on Monday.
Taking to twitter, Azharuddin said: “It was an evening with a difference. Doing what I love the most _ Net sessions at Gymkhana with some good U 19 talent from Hyderabad as part of preparations for the upcoming Vinoo Mankad trophy. After the net session, I interacted with the boys to explain the nuances of the game.’’
Azharuddin posted a picture talking to the boys wearing the pads and bat. Of late, there has been controversy over selection of the Hyderabad team. The long overdue Apex Council is being held on Tuesday afternoon and wherein it will discuss various issues including the under-19 selectors whether to continue with last season’s panel or nominate five new selectors.
The association came in for a flak after the way the senior team was selected for the on-going Vijay Hazare one-day tournament with only two `selectors’ _ Arvind Shetty and Anwar Ahmed. It raised a hornet’s nest as the few of the deserving players were overlooked resulting in protests at Gymkhana ground.
