Serious allegations cropped up against veteran actor Mohan Babu (Manchu Vishnu’s father) after actors Banerjee and Tanish broke down during a press interaction on Movie Artistes’ Association (MAA) elections.
Actor Banerjee alleged that veteran actor Mohan Babu attempted to physically assault him during the polling day on Sunday.
Banerjee said he was watching Mohan Babu from a distance when the latter was abusing one of his panel members actor Tanish.
“When I reached Vishnu to tell him not to make this as an issue, Mohan Babu garu tried to attack me. Immediately, Vishnu stopped his father and pulled me to the side. Then Mohan Babu started abusing me. I was shocked by the situation,” he said.
Banerjee recalled his friendship with Mohan Babu since his formative years.
“We have been like family even before Mohan Babu’s marriage. His daughter Lakshmi and sons Vishnu and Manoj grew up before me. I couldn’t take it when he started abusing my mother on the polling day. I felt it is better I resign than suffer myself in fear,” he said.
