Hyderabad: The withdrawal of the southwest monsoon in Telangana, including Hyderabad, is likely to begin after October 10. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the withdrawal of the monsoon is expected to be preceded by thundershowers in most parts of the State between October 3 and October 10.

IMD Hyderabad scientist Dr. A. Shravani stated that the withdrawal has already commenced in several parts of northern India and could be happening here soon. The process is anticipated to start in Telangana two to three weeks.

“The withdrawal has already started in north India and might take two to three weeks to reach Telangana, including Hyderabad,” she said.

However, after mixed weather conditions that involved rising temperatures and heavy rains, particularly during the nights, in rotation, Telangana can expect to have some monsoon experiences left.

Dr.Shravani indicated that the region would experience limited monsoon activity during the current season. “Not much extended monsoon is expected this year,” she added.

The thunderstorms expected in early October will mark the final significant weather activity for the season, after which monsoon withdrawal will begin.
