Bhongir: The BRS cadre led by former MLC Karne Prabhakar and former MLAs P Sekhar Reddy and N Bhaskar Rao along with BRS district president Ramakrishna Reddy attempted to stage a flash protest on the main road in Bhongir, after the police placed several other leaders under house arrest and did not allow the proposed Rythu Maha Dharna in the district headquarters.
However, the police, who have been keeping a vigil on the BRS leaders, rushed to the spot and asked the latter to leave. A heated argument ensued between the BRS leaders and the police, following which the police dragged away the BRS leaders and shifted them to different police stations. Former MLA Chirumarthi Lingaiah who was going to Bhongir, was arrested near Bibi Nagar and shifted to the police station. The exact whereabouts of these leaders remain unknown.
Meanwhile, former Minister and senior leader T Harish Rao condemned the arrests of the BRS leaders, demanding for their immediate release. He said the Congress government is using the police forces to suppress the public outrage and stifle the voices of the opposition parties undemocratically, which will not be tolerated.
