Suryapet: Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy on Monday said that measures have been taken up by the district administration to provide treatment and also isolation facility to Covid patients in Suryapet district.
Speaking after inspecting the area hospital at Huzurnagar including Covid ward, Reddy said that a door-to-door fever survey was conducted by medical staff in the district to identify persons who were suffering from fever and cold. The ANMs and Aasha workers would regularly monitor the condition of identified persons and Covid tests would be conducted for people who continue to have the symptoms for more than four days.
Stating that a high number of Covid cases were reported from Huzurnagar and Mellacheruvu mandals, he said these mandals were border districts of Andhra Pradesh. Patients, who have mild symptoms and living in small houses, should utilise the isolation centre in Suryapet. He reminded that 200 rooms converted into isolation centre in double bedrooms houses near Kesaram on the outskirts of Suryapet.
Stating that required medicines were available at all government hospitals in the district, he said that it was the doctors, who would decide to give Remedisivir injection to the Covid patients based on their health condition. The patients should not insist on only Remedisivir injection, he added. The doctors would extend the treatment to the patients as per the guidelines of the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR).
Pointing out that allocation of vaccines was under the control of the Centre, he said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had already requested the Centre to permit the State government to call a global tender to procure Covid vaccines. The State government was ready to spend any amount of money to extend the best treatment to covid patients in the State, he said.
Huzurnagar MLA Shanampudi Saidi Reddy, District Medical and Health Officer Kotachalam and Superintendent of Area hospital Dr. Karun Kumar were also present.
