More manpower for Telangana healthcare

7,727 posts sanctioned for seven new medical colleges and 13 new government nursing colleges

Hyderabad: Continuing its efforts to augment the healthcare infrastructure in Telangana, the State government on Thursday sanctioned 7,727 posts in various categories for seven new medical colleges and 13 new government nursing colleges. Administrative sanction for the new nursing colleges was also issued the same day.

Out of the 7,727 posts, including both clinical and administrative, 7,007 were for the seven upcoming medical colleges while the remaining 720 posts were allotted to the 13 nursing colleges.


Accordingly, 1,001 posts each were sanctioned for the seven medical colleges that are coming up in Sangareddy, Mahabubabad, Mancherial, Wanaparthy, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Jagtial and Nagarkurnool. The new nursing colleges will be at Sangareddy, Mahabubabad, Mancherial, Wanaparthy, Kothagudem, Nagarkurnool, Suryapet, Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar, Nizamabad, Adilabad, Siddipet and Jogulamba Gadwal.

Apart from the new nursing colleges, the State government has also created permanent posts for the existing Government Nursing College in Jagtial and at Gandhi Hospital here.
Pay Scales

The clinical posts sanctioned for the seven medical colleges will be recruited on UGC scales. Accordingly, the average monthly salary for the post of a professor in the teaching hospital will range between Rs.1,44,400 and Rs.2,18,200, while for an Associate Professor, it will be between Rs.79,800 and Rs.2,11,500 and for an Assistant Professor, the monthly remuneration will be between Rs.68,900 and Rs.2,05,500. Based on the UGC scales, the Tutor for the medical colleges will draw a monthly salary of Rs.57,700 to Rs.1,82,400 while lab technicians will have a pay scale between Rs.21,230 and Rs.63,010.

The pay scale for the 720 posts for the nursing colleges, including for those at Gandhi Hospital and Jagtial, will follow the guidelines of Revised Pay Scales (RPS), 2015. Accordingly, a Professor in the nursing colleges will have a monthly salary between Rs.42,490 and Rs.96,110 while an Assistant Professor will have a monthly salary between Rs.37,100 and Rs.91,450.

Apart from sanctioning posts for the seven medical colleges, the State government on Wednesday permitted the Director of Medical Education to engage 2,135 posts for various non-clinical services on contract or outsourcing basis.
